Help File

Thank-you for downloading newsCMSlite from Katy Whitton Web Development. We hope you enjoy this product.

NewsCMSlite Features:

  • Log In script for administrators
  • Upload, Edit and Delete files via a browser based interface
  • Work on or offline and upload your database separately
  • Upload articles in advance and "publish" them when ready
  • Dynamically generated article lists keep up with all the changes you make, instantly
System Requirements
  • IIS 5.0 or PWS Allowing ASP (VBScript)
  • Access (only if you wish to manually edit the database instead of using the NewsCMSlite interface)
  • FTP Software (or File managing software) to upload the NewsCMSlite software to the Internet
  • Internet Explorer 5+ or Netscape 7 for the admin system

Installing the NewsCMSlite System

  • Unzip the files and save them to your hard drive
  • Under the text in the index and news admin pages:
    '*************************************
' CHANGE THE FOLLWING DATA SOURCE
' PATH TO POINT TO WHERE YOU HAVE
    ' PLACED THE NewsCMS DATABASE
    '*************************************
Change the path of the Data Source to reflect where you have saved the document, for example if you saved the database in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\newsCMS\db\ then this would become the data source path with the file name of the database on the end of it.
  • You're now ready to run the admin page and start uploading your news

Follow the same process if you have installed the files on your server, changing the data source path as appropriate.
